Funding for extended services - clubs, childcare, trips, transport, equipment.
Tuesday, 30 June 2009 00:00
Would you like to be able to send your children to after school clubs, holiday clubs, childcare or other clubs/events out of school, but you cannot afford to?
There is a new subsidy available in the cluster from the summer term that may be able to help you. It is to allow children to participate in ANY extended service (any club, activity etc out of school hours, but also including residential school trips and transport and equipment for clubs), that they would not normally be able to attend because they can't afford it.
For more information and to see if you qualify and how to apply for this money, please speak to your child's school, Tina Frary, or Anna Brett (numbers on the contact us page)
JOIN UP JANUARY at the library!
Tuesday, 30 June 2009 00:00
JOIN UP JANAURY!
Join Up January is a great chance to find out more about what your local library can offer your family.
It's free to join the library and really easy. And in these difficult times free and low cost activities have got to be a bonus! You can do it online at www.norfolk.gov.uk/libraries or visit your local library and staff will join you up in just a few minutes. If you have ID with you showing your name and address that’s great, but even if you don’t you can borrow a couple of books!
The library has lots of story books including picture books and easier stories for new readers. Why not hook in to your child’s current interests by borrowing books on football, things to make and do, music, history and ‘how things work’ as well as books on TV series and films, graphic novels, comics and magazines? There are also children’s DVDs and DS and other games to try, as well as events and activities to join in with.
Friendly staff are on hand to help your child find something that will interest them. Staff can also let you know about books and websites you can use at the library or at home, to help with projects and other homework.
So if you or your family hasn’t got a library card, why not take advantage of the special sign up being offered this month? . Over the next 6 months the library service has some great incentives and special offers for all new and existing members, starting with a free DVD loan In January. Those residents who borrow the most items will receive a special limited edition gold card. You’ve got to be in it to win it, so sign up now and go for gold!
For more information visit your local library, call 0344 800 8006 or visit www.norfolk.gov.uk/libraries
